Introduction
The Cent Percent Literacy Programme (CPLP) is a time bound, area based and target approach literacy drive programme which was initiated at the behest of Markazul maarif in 2003 and which now is being run by the Ajmal Foundation. The area of operation is presently confined to Hojai town and its neighbouring areas but its ambit may cover fresh areas in the future. Hojai is a Sub-Divisional town in the southern part of Nagaon District in central Assam having a population of more than 3 lakh. The town has been declared 100% literate for the children under the age group of 6 to 14 years as a result of a massive drive of Markazul Ma'arif , an NGO which launched a hundred days' intensive campaign in the year 2004 . Thereafter, the AJMAL Foundation has taken over the mantle of continuing the literacy drive from Markazul Maarif and currently, under the “Continuation of CPLP Programme” the literacy campaign is doing its work steadily.
