STEP - Skill Training For Employment And Placement



The Ministry of Rural Development has recently sanctioned this special project STEP under SGSY scheme to AJMAL FOUNDATION for rural youth of BPL Families in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Assam. STEP is Skill Training Program for the economic and social prosperity of poor rural youth belonging to Minority, SC/ST and other disadvantaged groups (BPL Families) under Special Scheme.

Objectives

  • STEP will play a crucial role in skill development and career progression.
  • The target rural youth will acquire skills that will make them more employable and adaptable as the change occurs.
  • The employers in turn will get a more motivated and effective workforce.
  • Improved Skills levels will lead to improved productivity, quality and capacity to innovate.
  • Skill Training will also facilitate the process of social inclusion. Improved skill will create better jobs, greater income and opportunity to achieve because of ability and not because of background or status.

Project Period3 years

Project Areas: Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.

Nos. of Trainees7600, Assam: 3600, Uttar Pradesh:3135, Maharastra:1125, Karnataka: 1440.

Pre-Training : 03 Months, Training & Placement: 36 Month, Total :39 Months, Training Duration: 03 Months.

Under this the candidates will be offered 3 months certificate course in the following trades of Medical and Nursing sector, Retail sector, Security sector, Performance assessment and certification will be done by a third party named “India Skills” which is licensed by the DGE&T. Ministry of Labour  and Employment and the monitoring agency is NABARD CONSULTANCY SERVICES PVT. MUMBAI.With the completion of one and half year of the project duration, around 4500 youths have been placed in various national and multinational companies across India.
